Coming-of-Age Day falls on Jan. 12 (Mon./hol.). In 2022, Japan lowered the age of adulthood from 20 to 18. However, coming-of-age ceremonies are still often held at age 20. Many new adults wear kimonos, with women in particular donning frisode kimonos with beautifully-flowing sleeves.
