May has three national holidays.
Constitution Day (May 3, Sat.) is the celebration of the enactment of the current constitution.
Greenery Day (May 4, Sun.) is a day to commune with nature to appreciate its benefits and to foster spiritual richness.
Children’s Day (May 5, Mon.) traditionally was a festival for boys, but in 1948 it became a national holiday to celebrate the healthy growth of boys and girls. May 6 (Tue.) is a substitution holiday for Sunday.
On Mother’s Day (May 11, Sun.), people give their mothers red carnations to show their appreciation.
